Multi-cam test

We created a new piece of film to accompany the song whiskey in the jar by thin lizzy. We used the technique of using multi-cam, in which we had to shoot multiple clips of the same song from different angles and then using the multi-cam feature on final cut edit them together. This took a pretty long time relative to other pieces we have done previously. Here is the finished product:

The finished product is extremely well done but the process to get it there was arduous. Due to this fact it may prove unfeasible to do within our time scale for our main piece ,but it could still be used if we wanted. It provides a professional well trimmed look to the piece.

Greenscreen tutorial

This is a tutorial video for compositing with a green screen and gives some excellent tips and help.

Our own green screen

During the past week we have been experimenting with final cut pro techniques including the 'keying' technique which isolates the colour green and replaces it with an alternative image. we made our own green screen by cutting out a piece of cardboard and a piece of green paper the same size and sticking the paper to the cardboard. here are the results:

Cheap Green Screen

The below video is a cheap green screen. This video gave us the inspiration to use a mobile green screen when he shows a demonstration in wal-mart. We plan to use this effect in our main piece by having him performing whilst being passed about on the card but the final method is yet to be established we will have more on that later.

The Muzzle Flash Test

With a little help from the video posted below, plus about an hours of work I successfully finished my muzzle flash creation, as i did not have a prop gun I thought my own handgun would be better. I looked into a muzzle flash, as it can be used in so many different types of productions, and would be a lot safer than renting out a real gun for the day. Lets hope for more cool videos like this!

Tutorial for Plug ins

Lighting

This is a plugin effect that one can buy for Final Cut Pro x ( the software in which we post filming for the editing stage). I believe that the flashing lighting effect around 0.14 would be a perfect lighting effect for a music video, it could represent a whole host of different things, you could use the lighting in a live concert, or it could be used as an effect to show the subject could be on drugs or alcohol. We would like to achieve this effect in our music video, but hopefully try to create it ourselves as to buy this plugin is £30.00 which is simply out of the little budget we have. Also the castle lighting scene would allow the video to have a more professional look to it, the user has taken a dark rainy gloomy day and changed it almost to a fantasy war, giving the viewer a visual dream of fantasy and mystical.
